It appears that activities became a bit chaotic at Eros Publishing offices when the Bizarre Books series entered its third year. We're not aware of every mistake but the correct back cover of Cravings of the Flesh, BB-103, was placed on the cover for A Gift of Pain. The correct back cover of A Gift of Pain, BB-104, became part of Cravings of the Flesh. Both covers are included in the ebook.

The front cover of A Gift of Pain also seems amiss. While the novella spins the exploits of two glammed-up females, neither is a brunette nor does the bitch-in-chief place her pretty subordinate in bondage.

Like many other femdom stories in the series, the setting is institutional. Here, that institution is a townhouse commanded by Cecilia Chatsworth, assisted by Melissa, her maid. Seeking a furnished room to rent, Andrew Venner becomes their captive target.

The back-cover summary calls Venner Tanner.

It began with an ad, a deceptively simple ad placed in the local newspaper, the notice of an available furnished room in a quiet residential area of town. Townhouse living, privacy, even the services of a sleep-in maid. For Andrew Tanner, thirty years old and still without a plan for the future, it sounded like the perfect way to make a new start. But for the owner of the townhouse, a woman named Cecilia Chatsworth, it was far more than an opportunity to make some money putting her spare room to good use. Like a black widow spider, she lured Tanner as if he were a fly, subtly and gradually ensnaring him in a web of such monstrous pain and perversity that escape seemed an impossibility, mercy a word that never existed. The old values were gone. In their place he learned a different kind of moral code, a regimen of debasement, of slavish humility, respect tempered by bouts of cruel inhuman sadosexual punishment such as he had never known or dreamed of in his entire life.

Just for the fun of it, sexy Cecilia whips Melissa with a cane, then demands body worship. Later, the mistress of the house spanks her made with her leather-sheathed palm.

When Andrew arrives, Cecilia asks him to get undressed and hits him with his belt. In lieu of references, he agrees to take a polygraph. But the equipment doesn't measure heart rate; it delivers painful electrical shocks. After he moves in, she has him dress in rubber garments or in women's undies and high heels. In one scene, he's required to lick Cecilia's shoes. In another, he's sodomized by the plumber.

One afternoon, Cecilia leaves the townhouse, enabling Melissa to use Andrew for her erotic entertainment. She whips him while he launders her lingerie. She uses his decorated bottom as a target for her dart gun. Finally, after tying his hands behind him, she attaches a weighted yoke and assails him with two riding crops.

The text has been completely re-set for the ebook version. Few changes were made to the carefully-crafted prose. 37,000 words.

The ebook shows the covers and all content of the paperback book, except ads. Tasty fetish features of the 12 dynamic images by the Great Bill Ward are repeated, enlarged, on separate pages. The ebook shows pictures on more than 50 pages, accomplishing an optimized visual experience.

Gorgeous women in sexy fetish regalia populate the artist's ornate femdom tableaux. Illustrations show females in dominant roles, as punishers, with males as their victims. Women wear high-heeled shoes and boots, nylons, garter belts, gloves, and corsets. Costumes expose voluptuous pulchritude.

Illustrations depict many incidents in the story and grand female figures of dominating characters. As permitted by story content, page sequence positions each picture close to related prose, but not every picture is described precisely. Many events in the prose do not appear in the pictures.

Brightness and contrast of images were adjusted. The art transposed to ebook format with clarity.
