Forty-Plus, No. 15
A pinup magazine of 64 pages, Forty-Plus, No. 15 exposes the breast beauty of Selbee favorites without words. The theme here is toplessness and female features that fascinate men.

Mostly sweet and cheerful, these lovely gals usually wear next to nothing, but shoes, nylons and furs sometimes adorn. Models include Tanya, Eleanor Ames, Marlene, Tura Miller and Renee Duval. Cover girl Cindy Cole was photographed in Mr. Burtman's Manhattan apartment.

On the inside front cover, a disclaimer explains that the intent of all this nudity is the creation of a guide for professional artists, photographers and models that will help them pursue their art. Pretty posers' winks, shoes, gloves and lingerie belie the idealism of the publisher's notice.

Clay-coated paper translates well to digital iteration, yielding clear images and a nice palette of grays. Brightness and contrast were adjusted and specks retouched. The ebook contains all the content of the booklet, including a page of advertising. The digital replica retains the picture sequence of the magazine.

For those who enjoy buxom allure, these curvaceous cuties show off natural bounty, often wearing little more than a smile. Plenty to look at; easy to see.

Bizarre Beauties
Like Forty-Plus, Bizarre Beauties opens with a publisher's statement that describes the purpose of the publication as a guide “ . . . to achieve and maintain proficiency in figure art.” Despite this wholesome objective, the publisher forgot to print his name and address on the 36-page booklet.

Models include Judy O’Day, Brandee Kayse, and Barbara Paul.

While attractive models pose their lovely instruments in an assortment of brief costumes, nothing here could fairly be characterized as bizarre. Cute and flirty, these shapely sweethearts often make eye contact through the lens.

Pleasing posers appear in fishnets, full-fashioned nylons, lacy undies and heels. In several pictures, they hold telephones, and in one, a high ball.

The ebook contains all content of the booklet in the original sequence. Brightness and contrast were adjusted and specks retouched. The professional photography transposed nicely to ebook format with good skin tones.

All new scans.

Easy to date, its blunt anonymity contrasts with our current era of continuous self-promotion. Probably sold under-the-counter, its mysterious origins may have attempted to shield its creators from obscenity prosecution. Sweet and friendly among 21st-century styles, the ebook restores the bawdy gloss of this obscure 1960s relic.
