High Heel and Corset Revue, C-14
Let's face it: there were lots of Selbee publications that were not as good as the cover promised. I've tried to avoid turning those into ebooks, and have used what I thought were the best of them. High Heel and Corset Revue is certainly among the best of the best of Mr. Burtman's publishing and photo orchestrations during his tenure in New York.

Without any text, High Heel and Corset Revue, C-14, collects boudoir and living room photos of models in various stages of dishabille. These are not dressing or undressing progressions, but assorted poses in costumes that include stockings, high heels and, usually, a corset. Nicely photographed and printed, the stockings are long and smooth, the heels are high, and the corsets are tight. The album also includes poses in dresses, fur stoles and long gloves and with long cigarette holders. One Gene Bilbrew illustration brightens the title page.

The optimized ebook version shows multiple views of most photographs, zooming in on legs, heels and corsets. The wide ebook pages fill the space allowed by Acrobat Reader on your monitor. This format reduces the need for scrolling and zooming.

Dominate, No. 1

In the beginning (1946), there was John (née John A. Coutts) Willie's Bizarre, "a fashion fantasia," the first digest-sized, fetish periodical. Around 1957, Mr. Coutt's sold Bizarre Publishing Company to a good friend, who produced issues 21 through 26.

Apparently, the new owner launched a second publication, Dominate, which focused on dominant women. The cover boasts, "UNIQUE - CAPTIVATING - FACT - FICTION - CURIOSA." The best parts of the premiere issue are illustrations by REX.

Generally, the production is fair. Some of the photos look like they might have been taken by John Willie, but they are small, dark, scratched and difficult to see. Female wrestling photos are also small and have been retouched with dark pencil.
