The premiere issue of Black Orchids shapes up as a pin-up magazine. While most of the models are black, we find a mix of ethnic backgrounds. There's not much fetish content but most pictures include feet.

There is no editorial describing a theme. Blurbs adjacent to photographs are brief.

Page layouts and production show competence. As in Synmag magazines, readers are explicitly advised to turn pages.
