About 50 years old, Mistress in Satin is an obscure Exotique booklet that's seldom seen anywhere. Well-orchestrated photography and about 20 pages of text tell us of a country cousin who visits her urban kin for a few weeks. Fortunately for all concerned, the city cousin (Diane Kirby) immediately decides that her relative (Nanette Rockwell) must learn how to dress. This means a lacy bra and panties, tight satin corset, black, full-fashioned stockings and strappy mules with four-inch heels. Throughout the apparel orientation, Miss Kirby shows off her own copious pinup credentials in tight satin corset, tan stockings, strapless bra and two-tone mules with 5+ inch heels. The objective of the transformation is the creation of a “glamour girl” who will appear as “a vision of sensuous allure [to] men-folk.”

Replete with delicious details and lingerie tactics, the prose aims to satisfy the appetite of fetishists with precise descriptions that include dimensions. As stated throughout her dialog, the attitudes of the city cousin express popular 1950s ideas about the objectification and presentation of women, now long out of style. The photography discloses professional competence, with well-directed posing, framing and lighting in Mr. Burtman’s apartment.

The ebook optimizes the images with excellent female figures filling pages from top to bottom, reducing the need for zooming and scrolling. Complete pictures are clear. Enlargements of stockings/heels and corsets are positioned beside the complete photos or on the following page. Some of these are a bit fuzzy. A few of the photographs at the beginning and end are relocated in the sequence of pages. The original shows conscientious craftsmanship, improved by the ebook adjustment process.

I can't sell Bandit in High Heels as a Bargain Bin item because about 10 pages are missing from the set of scans I was given. The incomplete edition will certainly satisfy curiosity about the content introduced by the evocative cover.

A professional burlesque entertainer, Tana Louise presents her delectable figure in satin corset, dark full-fashioned hosiery, high heels and a jaunty tam. The booklet might have been better if Maureen appeared on fewer pages.
