#248 - Eyeful, 4, 6, 1948, Bargain Bin
Eyeful, Number 4, Volume 6,
Eyeful Magazine, Inc., [Robert Harrison]
June, 1948
Robert Harrison published the pin-up titles Wink, Titter, Beauty Parade, Flirt, and Eyeful in the 1940s and 1950s. During WWII, leather and footwear were in short supply. In the postwar period, his magazines sparkled with photos of Broadway beauties in leather pumps with five and six-inch heels, vintage corsets and high-heeled boots. In the 1950s, postal inspectors warned him against including much fetish content in his magazines.
Adorned by a colorful Peter Driben cover painting, the June 1948 issue of Eyeful gives us a lot to look at with page after page of pretty legs in high heels, photographed to good advantage. A few pictures of models in boots and vintage corsets are accompanied by gags and puns. “Articles” about a beauty contest, bowling, women wrestling and a building inspector sequence.
All of the 68 pages, including ads, are included. This is one of the best issues of a Harrison magazine I've seen. If I had the old paper, I would include its copious fetish photos in the next volume of Fancy Femmes.
