Sampson Publishing and Distributing Co. produced an assortment of full-sized pinup magazine titles in the 1960s, including Sheer Hose, Demoiselle, and Nylon Mood. Like those, French Frolic shows most models in stockings and garter belts, but without airbrush embellishment.
The French aspect of these pinup pictures is probably the sexy undies and lingerie they wear for the camera. Even text that accompanies the pictures characterizes Ginger Tanzy as British, June Hunt as Argentinian, and Velvet Brown, Pat Marshall, and Valerie Vallois as American.
The one French model, statuesque Gaby Molinard, has Continental loveliness to spare. But all the models show us alluring curves in various stages of dishabille. On balance, there's about as much lingerie and hosiery in this magazine as in an a Selbee magazine of the same vintage.
Other content includes full-page cartoons and an album of French nudes. The color centerfold expands the cover scene.
Except for the back cover, the digital replica shows all of the paper magazine in the original page sequence. Sampson and other magazine publishers usually repeated the color photo of the front cover on the back cover, without titles. This money-saving tactic reused the four-color separation films of the front cover.
The scans were found on a website, which requires that this ebook be in the Bargain Bin. Rotation was corrected and tonality adjusted, but spots and specks were not retouched.
The cheerful cuties of French Frolic seem to enjoy being the objects of male attention. Sweet and hot, we meet them at home, dressed for seduction.
