High Heels, Volume 1, Number 1,
Selbee Associates,
New York, New York
1961

highheels 1 1 pic 1 copy.pngThis issue shows no date, but Dr. Bienvenu's dissertation says that Mr. Burtman referred to High Heels in a letter to Paul Gebhard in December 1961.

The 56-page magazine has pictorials of Libby Jones, Jenifer Jordan (not Jutka Goz), Jennie Lee, Kay Foster, Drea Lea and a few pictures of Tempest Storm. None of the picture sets show the pretty models in heels as high as five inches, and at least half the pictures show bare feet or no feet.

There's a lot to read, with an essay, illustrated with photos of women in high heels, and two short stories, accompanied by Gene Bilbrew drawings that are everything they should be.

A promo piece with publicity stills touts the quality of Mr. Burtman's feature film Pattern of Evil with nice pix of Meg Myles in boots and Sabrina in a corset. It appears to be the same actors, costumes and settings as the film Satan in High Heels.

This issue comes up a bit short in the high heel department. Like many Selbee products, the cover boasts of a booted brunette who is not seen within.
